Timothy Poore

Chief Executive Officer

Tim brings more than 20 years of health care leadership experience to HealthSouth.  His experience includes involvement in inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient treatment programs including surgery centers, diagnostic centers and occupational health clinics as well as long term acute care hospitals.  Tim uses his background and experience to set high standards for patient care.  Tim holds a bachelor’s of science degree from SUNY Brockport in New York.  He has been actively involved in the American Heart Association and many other health related non-profit groups in the community.

Dr. Susan Bulen

Susan Bulen, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Bulen has served as the medical director for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Arizona for five years. She is a physiatrist specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Her primary focus is rehabilitation for patients who have had a stroke, spinal cord injury and need general rehabilitation. Her training includes rehabilitation specialization at Baylor University in Houston, Texas, medical school at the University of California in Irvine, a master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University in San Diego, California, and a bachelor’s degree in biology at San Diego State University in San Diego.

Susan Bulen, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Neil Cullen

Director of Human Resources

Neil joined the HealthSouth team in May 2014. Neil received his bachelor’s degree in communications in 2005 and an advanced supplemental certificate in legal assistance in 2008. He then went on to receive his master’s degree in business administration in 2016. Neil has been in senior management in the healthcare field as a human resource director since 2007. Before joining HealthSouth, he worked in a skilled nursing facility and a level one psychiatric hospital. Neil holds membership in the Society for Human Resource Management.

Carol D’souza

Carol D’souza

Director of Human Resources

Carol D’souza joined HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Arizona as director of human resources in September 2017. She has more than 15 years’ experience in human resources working at both large and small organizations. Prior her current role, Carol served 12 years at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, where she advanced through positions of increasing authority and decision-making to the role of chief human resources officer. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Grand Canyon University with an emphasis in healthcare management and is currently obtaining certification in professional coaching from the College of Executive Coaching in Phoenix. In addition, she is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Central Arizona Human Resources Management Association (CAHRMA) and Arizona Human Resources Executive Forum (AZHREF). She has been serving on the Personnel Advisory Board for the City of Casa Grande since 2014 and was just lately appointed to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the City of Casa Grande. 

Kristin McHaley Haeflinger

Director of Therapy Operations

Kristin McHaley Haeflinger has been a physical therapist with HealthSouth since 2009. She grew up in the Denver metro area and went to school for her bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. McHaley then went on to get her doctorate in physical therapy from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Rochester, Minn. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Neurology Section and is a certified clinical instructor taking an active interest in the next generation of physical therapists. McHaley is also a member of the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association. She maintains an active certification in NDT and is passionate about patients with neurologic deficits.

 

Kaleigh Hotchkiss

Kaleigh Hotchkiss, CPA

Controller

Kaleigh joined the HealthSouth team in November 2013.  She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Arizona and a master's of professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.  Prior to joining HealthSouth she worked in public accounting in audit and assurance services. Kaleigh is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Arizona and she is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Shaunna Kowalewski

Shaunna Kowalewski

Director of Marketing Operations

Shaunna joined the HealthSouth Southern Arizona team in August of 2015. She received a bachelor’s of science degree in animal health services from the University of Arizona. Prior to working for HealthSouth, she was at an acute care hospital focusing on patient throughput initiatives from admission to discharge. She previously worked for HealthSouth’s outpatient division as an operations manager for the Chicago Region and then in Tucson as the marketing director and regional administrator. Shaunna brings over 30 years of experience in healthcare in a variety of roles including marketing and business development, project management, process improvement, operations and administration.

Gina Ragonese

Chief Nursing Officer

Gina joined HealthSouth Southern Arizona in May of 2016. She began her nursing career in Chicago as an OR nurse. She has held a variety of leadership positions which include peri-operative services, interventional radiology, ambulatory surgery and outpatient pain management. In addition, she has been a clinical instructor for a local college. Gina is an experienced nurse leader who is focused on her team and dedicated to exceptional quality, patient safety and satisfaction.  Gina holds master’s degree in both nursing and business administration and is currently pursuing her doctorate in nursing. 

Randy Short

Randy Short

Director of Plant Operations

Randy came to HealthSouth in January of 2017. Randy is a 30-year plus veteran of the healthcare and maintenance fields working with medical buildings to make sure they are in compliance with several required regulations and meeting Joint Commission requirements. As a facilities maintenance director, Randy is also experienced with OSHA, NFPA and has other necessary accreditations that benefit the hospital. Before coming to HealthSouth, Randy, a Tucson resident for more than 45 years, worked with the assisted and memory care units for the elderly and has worked in the hospital setting both in Tucson and Texas.

Joann Smith

Director of Quality Assurance and Risk Management

Joann holds a bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science from Hahnemann University in Pennsylvania. Joann’s 30 plus years work experience includes clinical, forensic and industrial laboratories, infection control, quality, risk management and compliance. She has 20 years experience in management roles. She joined HealthSouth in 2004 overseeing quality, risk management, compliance and patient safety.
Jennifer Stone

Jennifer Stone

Director of Case Management

Jennifer joined the HealthSouth Southern Arizona team in September of 2015. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University. Prior to working at HealthSouth she worked at an acute care hospital, and has previous experience working in hospice and outpatient dialysis settings. Jennifer is a licensed master social worker in the state of Arizona, and is passionate about utilizing research to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
